What are SiaFunds?

SiaFunds are tokens used for revenue sharing within the Sia network, allocating a 3.9% fee from every storage-related transaction to Siafund holders. Initially, around 1,400 SiaFunds were distributed to investors, with Skynet Labs holding the remaining 8,600. These funds come from various fees and are equally distributed among holders upon contract completion. SiaFunds were created to provide sustainable funding for the network's development, incentivizing support and enhancement by capturing a portion of its revenue as the user base grows.

How do I get SiaFunds?

SiaFunds can be acquired using the Sia Foundation's newly developed tool called Embarcadero. The tool isn't trivial, and you'll need some level of technical expertise to use it. Previously, they were acquired using a trusted escrow/OTC, but the foundation is no longer pointing anyone in that direction. In either case, it's best to join the #siafunds discord channel to find people who are selling through the Embarcadero tool.
